Come join us in celebrating the Yale Day of Service with Thorne Nature Experience at the Lafayette Nature Center on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
We are looking for up to 15 volunteers who enjoy the out of doors and getting their hands in the soil.
Thorne has been helping Colorado children and families build joyful, hands-on connections with nature for decades, using outdoor education to inspire curiosity, confidence, and lifelong environmental stewardship. This year, Yale volunteers will help support Thorne’s Lafayette Nature Center with a mix of meaningful outdoor projects, including erosion-control work, trench filling and leveling, weeding, and kid-friendly cobblestone moving near the bioswale/play creek area.
Families are warmly welcome — including little ones. Some projects will involve heavier digging and landscaping work, while others will be lighter and perfect for children who want to help, explore, and play nearby while parents volunteer.
Please bring water and a sack lunch if you’d like to stay for a picnic afterward by Coal Creek.
