Yale College Dean Pericles Lewis Comes to Colorado

Gather with your Colorado Yale community on Wednesday, October 18th, for an evening with Yale College Dean Pericles Lewis. All Yale alumni, parents, and friends are invited. The Redpath lecturer event and annual CYA meeting starts at 6:00 pm with light bites, beer, and wine. Remarks beginning at 7:00 pm. This event will also serve as our annual meeting.

Pericles Lewis, Douglas Tracy Smith Professor of Comparative Literature and Professor of English at Yale University, was named Dean of Yale College in May 2022. In partnership with other university leaders and faculty members, he is responsible for guiding the curriculum, intellectual life, residential experience, and student affairs of the Yale College community. His goal is to ensure that Yale offers the world’s best undergraduate education. Lewis earned his B.A. with first-class honors in English literature from McGill University in 1990 and his Ph.D. in comparative literature from Stanford University in 1997. He joined the Yale faculty in 1998 as assistant professor in the Comparative Literature and English departments, rising to the rank of full professor in 2007. In 2004, Yale recognized Lewis with the Graduate Mentor Award.

His literary critical work focuses on the modernists who revolutionized European literature in the early twentieth century. He is the author of three books on the social contexts of modern literature and editor of four books. He is currently writing a book on liberal education, and he can speak to its continuing importance at Yale as well as to what might have changed since your days on campus. This is your opportunity to question Dean Lewis about your interests and concerns and to find out what the future of a post-Salovey Yale may hold.

The location is the Carla Madison Recreation Center’s rooftop event space, 2401 E Colfax Ave, Denver.  Perched high above Colfax on the fifth level, the rooftop event space offers views reaching beyond the city to the Rocky Mountains. The Redpath guest lecture event always draws a lot of attendees and is a great way to meet fellow Colorado Yalies. Please RSVP to method with Daphne Butler: daphne.e.butler@gmail.com.  Fee: $25.
